For the most part, tropical islands represent peace and tranquility but there is another side, a more forceful side. This table was inspired by a fallen tree devastated by a cyclone, a phenomenon that is happening with increasing regularity due to the effects of global warming. This table brings together the seemingly opposite energies of raw power and refined finishes. The tabletop is a mix of raw cut and well-finished wood while the bottom leg comes in the shape of a big root slab. An acrylic mirror reflects the light across the legs, creating a sense of movement of light and life within the piece, a feeling that the table was always meant to be there – wherever you put it.
